From the Daily Home:
The Rebels of Coosa Valley Academy opened the 2007 season with a victory over Central Christian on Aug. 24.
Coosa Valley will put their undefeated record on the line this week against 2A Chambers Academy. The Rebels impressed second-year coach Steven Mackin in the opener.
“They played much better in the second half both offensively and defensively,” Mackin said. “We were very, very physical (Thursday night). It was probably the most physical I’ve seen our kids play since I came to Coosa Valley. We played real aggressive.”
The Rebels squared off with Chambers Academy just a couple of weeks ago in a preseason scrimmage, so there may not be many surprises for either team on Friday. Chase Lacy led the way for the Rebels a week ago, accumulating 344 all-purpose yards. Quarterback Whit Lovelady completed 13 of 27 passes for 260 yards. Junior J.B. Ripley also caught two touchdown passes for the Rebels last week.
