Who’s your favorite CVA athlete? Can you remember back that far? If you can, please add your thoughts in a comment to this post.
WordPress has enabled polling on blogs now, so when I have a few nominations, I will try it out. Please be sure to include their sport and the year they graduated from CVA.
You can, obviously, make male and female nominations.
Some that come to mind: Mike Wheeler and Steve Willingham from the 1970s, Brett Strickland and Tad Niblett from the 1980s, Brandon Nix and Zac Taylor from the 2000s.
What do you think?

I saw this bit in The Birmingham News this morning:
Hoover High School offensive coordinator Tad Niblett, the brother of Hoover head coach Josh Niblett, collapsed during a morning football practice at the school Tuesday and was carried away by ambulance.
Hoover City Schools spokesman Jason Gaston said Niblett was “doing fine and in the process of recovering” at a local hospital. “All of the tests have checked out well so far,” Gaston added.
Both Josh Niblett and his father John, who coached high school football for 39 years, attended Hoover’s evening practice. Tad Niblett came to Hoover with his brother during the offseason after serving as quarterback coach under him at Oxford.
Please say a prayer for Tad today.

There will be an unofficial “meet up” of CVA Alumni on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Rebels’ homecoming football game.
Officially, this is a meet up of Class of 1983 Alumni, but they don’t mind if other former school mates crash the party.

From The Shelby County Reporter:
HARPERSVILLE — Cornerstone Christian School used some fourth-quarter trickery to seal the win Friday against rival Coosa Valley Academy, 30-26.

lf and lead by two touchdowns at the break, 22-7.
But the Rebels (1-2, 1-1) didn’t give up, bouncing back in front of the home crowd at Don Greene Stadium. Behind a strong passing game, Coosa Valley closed the gap to just two points, 22-20.
The Rebels looked poised for the comeback after stopping the Chargers inside their own territory.
All the Rebels needed to do was recover the punt, and then drive down the field to win.

From The Shelby County Reporter:
After being down at the half, Coosa Valley Academy came back in the second to claim its first region win 33-28 against Lyman Ward Military Academy.
“We played pretty miserable in the first half,” said CVA head coach Steven Mackin. “We played much better the second half, we executed in the second.”
At halftime, the Rebels went in to the locker room down 28-19, but in the second half Coosa Valley held Lyman Ward to no points.
“We ended up shutting them out the second half,” Mackin said.
